On behalf of the CWPSSA Executive, I would like to thank you all for your continued support, commitment and dedication to Central Wollongong PSSA.

 

Special thanks to all the Principals for your ongoing support of school sport. This creates the pathway for many of our gifted and talented students in their chosen field. Many of these students go on to achieving great success. 

 

Thank you Principals, for supporting the teachers in your schools who give up so much of their own time to coordinate sporting events throughout the year. I guarantee this is done with much love and passion for sport, which is evident across our district. We are very lucky to have so many dedicated and committed teachers who give so freely of their own time.

A very big thank you to all these teachers who give up so much of their own time to create opportunities for sport within your schools. Without you, these opportunities are not available to our students.

Northern Gala Day is on TOMORROW – Friday 4th June, 2021.

Northern Gala Day at this stage is on tomorrow.

Pending inclement weather in the morning, a final call will be made by 7:30am in order for schools to cancel buses.

Please ensure students have warm clothing and maybe a blanket or towel to sit on.

Let’s hope the sun comes out and dries up all the rain!

HOODIE SALES OPEN TOMORROW – SCSSA CROSS COUNTRY

2021 South Coast Cross Country

These will be sold online through the merchandise tab on the South Coast SSA website https://app.education.nsw.gov.au/sport/SouthCoast/Merchandise

The online shop will be open ONLY from 9am Saturday 29 May to 9:30am Wednesday 2 June. Cross country products will not appear in the catalogue before this time.

Only students who are eligible to compete may purchase- child’s name, school and district/ zone must be put into note in cart. (if unsure this information is on the South Coast SSA website under ‘find my school sporting zone).

Hoodies can ONLY be picked up from the championships- delivery is NOT available.

CREDIT CARD ONLY

In 2021 they are apple green with black inside the hood and are $60 each. South Coast beanies will also be on sale for $20. Limited stock is available.

Some great news as the Representative Pathways are open to start off school sport for 2021.

Below are some dates for your calendars:

Major Carnivals:

– CWPSSA Swimming – Thursday 18th February, 2021 – Unanderra Pool

*^ Please note: NO parent spectators will be permitted at this event.

– CWPSSA Cross Country – Friday 30th April, 2021 – Kembla Joggers

– CWPSSA Athletics – Thursday 5th & Friday 6th August, 2021 – Beaton Park Athletics Track

Schools will also be holding trials in the coming weeks to select students to attend our district trials for students in Year 5 & 6.

Nominations from individual students given to your school sports organisers will be taken for golf, softball, AFL, Rugby Union, Hockey & Girls Rugby 7’s

Please see your school sports organiser for more details if your child is at representative level for a selected sport.

Notes for trials will be given to selected students once convenors have sent them to schools.

Please read carefully any information you may receive in regards to the major carnivals and trials, as we will be following the updated health guidelines in regards to parent attendance at each event.

CWPSSA Trials POSTPONED! New DATES.

The Central Wollongong District Netball trials due to be played onFriday 6th March have been Postponed.

The Central Wollongong & Northern Illawarra Zone Rugby League trials for 11yrs and Opens Boys, have also been postponed.

The new dates for:

Rugby League will be Monday 16th March @Sid Parrish Park                                               11yrs 9:30am – 11:30am & Opens 12:30 – 2:30pm

Netball – Friday 20th March @Fred Finch Park, Berkeley 12:30-2:30pm

Hi All,

Welcome to the Central Wollongong website. My apologies for not having this updated to commence the year for 2018.

Unfortunately, we are yet to appoint a website administrator from within the local schools. Until then, I will try my best to update you all on the upcoming carnivals and trials.

Please also see your school district delegate/sports organiser, if you require any information related to the school, district, zone or regional sport level.

South Coast PSSA Regional Swimming Carnival – Wednesday 8th March

Congratulations to all students who participated in the CWPSSA Swimming Carnival held on Wednesday 22nd February at the Western Suburbs Swimming Pool.

The Regional Swimming Carnival will be held on Wednesday 8th March at Dapto Pool.

All students who received a permission note need to forward these on to sports organisers to send to the team managers Nik Nielsen (Figtree Heights PS) and Gary Wheeler (Figtree PS).

NSW PSSA State Championships will be held in Homebush on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 April 2017.

‘Royal blue’ hoodies will be available for sale on the day for $50, limited stock, cash, cheque or EFTPOS. NO pre-orders.

Please be aware that the hoodies do sell out very fast. Relay competitors are encouraged to find someone they know who will be at the carnival early in the morning, and able to line up and purchase on their behalf.

Please remember that the South Coast Swimming is about the swimming and that competitors in early heats should not be waiting in the line to purchase hoodies.

PSSA Trial Explanation

Following is a breakdown of how the Primary School Sport (PSSA) trials work.

CENTRAL WOLLONGONG PSSA is made up of the following 12 schools within our district – 

Coniston . Figtree . Figtree Heights .Gwynneville . Keiraville . Lindsay Park . Mt Kembla . Mt Keira Dem . Mt St Thomas . Nareena Hills . Wollongong . Wollongong West

ILLAWARRA ZONE PSSA is made up of the following PSSA Districts –

North Wollongong . Brokers . Central . South Wollongong . Dapto . Tongarra . Mid South. Shoalhaven . South Shoalhaven

The Illawarra Zone is further split into two sub-zones for ease of trials:

Northern Illawarra Zone (NIZ) is made up of the following PSSA Districts –

North Wollongong, Brokers, Central Wollongong, South Wollongong and Dapto

Southern Illawarra Zone (SIZ) is made up of the following PSSA Districts –

Tongarra, Mid South, Shoalhaven, South Shoalhaven

 Students would then progress through a process of:

School Selection -> District Trial -> AND/OR/OR NOT-> Zone Trial -> South Coast Trial -> State Championships representing South Coast SSA.

ILLAWARRA ZONE (NIZ & SIZ) TRIALS are held for:

Netball (Girls)

Cricket (Boys and Girls)

Rugby League (11 years and Opens)

AFL

Football (Boys and Girls)

Hockey (Boys and Girls)

All other sports progress directly to South Coast trials from district trials: tennis, touch, basketball, rugby, golf, softball
